What is a Life Coach?

Coaching helps people set goals, make changes, and move forward in their lives. Unlike therapy, which looks at past events or problems, life coaching focuses on where you are now and where you want to go. It offers a supportive and confidential space. Step by step, a life coach helps you face fears and find balance in your personal and professional life. I like to think of it this way: you have a destination in mind, and as your coach, I have the map. Together, we’ll find the best way to get you there.

Should I use a Life Coach?

This is an important question. Since coaching relies on trust, it is essential to choose a coach you feel comfortable with. You may need to meet several professionals before finding the right fit for your needs and lifestyle. A life coach can support and guide you, but meaningful progress depends on your readiness to take action. Ultimately, only you can determine if you are prepared for change and whether working with a life coach is the right step.

Here are some questions to ask yourself to see if you need to hire a Life Coach:

  • Do you often feel overwhelmed with daily tasks?

  • You recognize the need for change but find yourself resistant to it.

  • Do you have goals you just can’t seem to reach?

  • Do you feel as though daily life has become routine and unfulfilling?

  • Are you seeking a better balance between work and personal life?

  • Do you have a hard time making decisions?

  • Would you benefit from support in simplifying your life?

  • Do you need assistance with setting priorities?

  • Are you looking to improve your relationships?

  • Are there deadlines that cause stress and make you feel like you can’t cope?

  • Would you like to identify your core strengths and maximize their potential?

  • Need some support?

  • Do you have low self-esteem?

  • Do you often feel like nothing works out for you?

If you answered yes to any of the questions above, it doesn’t always mean you need therapy. However, it could mean that working with a Life Coach might help. Once you know what you want to achieve through Life Coaching, you can start looking for the right coach to support your goals.

Life coaching might not be right for you if you find it difficult to accept feedback or if you’re not sure you can commit the time and energy needed to make positive changes. Because coaching is a partnership, it’s important for clients to be open and willing to participate.

For Life Coaching to work well, both the coach and the client need to be honest and open to change. This idea is also part of my Be & Share program. To learn more, click on the Be & Share tab.
